Ten Thousand Others Synopsis:The film is a raw and visual story of a runner whose life flashes before his eyes when a sudden heart attack cripples him. As memories engulf his consciousness, he realizes that the images he sees are not of his own life. Ten Thousand Others conveys the Butterfly Effect by showing that our lives, no matter how isolated they seem, are inexplicably intertwined with nature and the people around us.
What is the Butterfly Effect? It is our modern day parable to explain the interconnectedness of our 21st century world. A butterfly flaps its wings in Montevideo, starting a chain of events, culminating in a typhoon in Japan, or a cool summer breeze in New York. The simple or the ignored, the unseen acts or sparks of inspiration that shape and affect the world around us define the lives we lead.  @7 months ago

"You meet a woman who’s clumsy and doesn’t read, and because of that it won’t work. But then you meet a woman who’s clumsy and won’t read, but she’s just right for you. The two can have the same failures, but some ineffable alchemy allows you to forgive the right one."

American Dream vs. Relationships

I realized the America dream was pulling us apart. We followed the formula of owning, having, pushing each other. You have all this stuff, but you’re miserable because what you’re really craving is interaction. American life is exhausting and exhaustion distorts your ability to judge problems.

Consumer Culture kills relationships

You think Marriage is for me. That it’s for meeting my needs. Such beliefs lead to a sense of entitlement, that I deserver better than I’m getting. This is the basic message of almost every advertisement in the consumer culture. You deserve more and these businesses can provide it. We believe a partner’s job is to provide pleasure, we don’t go into relationships because we want to learn how to negotiate and master difficulties.

Working through a relationship

About the middle stages of a relationship: It was a time of growing up. I had to accept that I had new responsibilities. And I had to accept that my partner is not ideal in every way although she is in many ways. But her short temper is not enough of a reason to leave the relationship and our 2 kids. When I wish she’d be different, I have to remind myself of all the ways she is the person I want to be with. It’s not something you get over, you accept it.
